Sept. 20- Laxmi Hyuandai Manang Marshyangdi Club came from a goal behind to beat Sri Lankan Air Force 2-1 in their opening Group A match of the AFC President Cup in Colombo on Saturday.
Sri Lankan Air Force took an early lead in the fifth minute through Kavidu Ishan but Shiva Shrestha did not let the home team’s joy last for long equalizing in the 35th minute.
Shrestha who was put though on goals by Dodoz, beautifully chipped his shot past un-rushing Sri Lankan keeper but saw it rebound off the cross bar. Luckily, the rebound dropped right into his feet, allowing him to net an easy goal.
Manang could have equalized in the tenth minute through Dodoz but his shot taken from a difficult angle was blocked well the by the keeper.
At the other end, Sri Lankan Air Force, weaved a host of goal bound moves through Kavidu Ishan whose pace easily beat Biraj Maharjan on several occasions.
Anil Gurung gave Manang the lead in the 63d minute from a penalty, thanks to Dodoz who was fouled inside the box by Sri Lankan keeper in a one-on-one situation. Gurung made no mistake putting the ball at the back of the net.
Dodoz was the architect of the win assisting Shiva for the first goal and winning a penalty for the second goal.
Coach Nabin Neupane used all his subs in the second half sending in Nirajan Malla in place of Sujal Shresha in the 55th minute, Deepak Rai in for Sulav Maskey in the 53rd minute and Bishal Rai in for Anil Gurung in the 84th minute.
Manang have their second Group A match against FC HTTU of Turkmenistan.
