Sept. 14- Nepal went down to Iraq 4-0 in the first group D match of the Asian Games at the Incheon Stadium in South Korea on Sunday.
Iraq scored two goals each in either side of the half to stand atop the standing with three points. Bonayan B. put Iraq ahead in the fifth minute and developed a 2-0 lead at end of the half through Mahmoud Y’s goal in 45th minute.
The second half followed the same script with Nepal put towards the receiving end. Rohit Chand’s own goal in the 86th minute gave Iraq a comfortable three goals cushion, while Bahiat A put the icing on Iraq’s cake scoring in first minute of injury time (90+1).
Coach Jack Stefanowski started with Alan Neupane,Sagar Thapa, Sandip Rai, Rohit Chand, Rabin Shrestha, Bharat Khawas, Bikram Lama, Ranjit Dhimal, Aditya Chaudhary, Jagjeet Shrestha and Asim Jung Karki.
Suhil K.C. came in the second half, while Jagajeet Shrestha made way for Heman Gurung in the 58th minute. Prakash Budathoki went in for Ranjit Dhimal in the 89th minute.
