Sept. 17 - Nepal went down to Kuwait 5-0 in their second group D match of the Asian Games at the Goyang Stadium on Wednesday.
Nepal who were one goal down till the end of the first half conceded four goals in the second half to crash out of the championship. Nepal have their third match against Japan on Sept. 21 but the game will hold no meaning for the Himalayan nation who are at the bottom of the table with no points.
Kuwait opened their scoring in the first half through Fahad in the 18th minute and the added the four goals second in the second half through Alsena Sami who scored a hat-trick, with goals coming in the 65th, 73rd and 88th. Sami’s goal in the 73rd minute was from a penalty that had been conceded by Sandip Rai. The other goal was scored by ALzami Faisal in the 81st minute.
Nepal had just two shots on target. Though Jagjeet Shrestha won free-kicks on few occasions, he rarely threatened the keeper. His best attempt was in the first half in the half-hour’s mark when his shot almost found un-marked Ashim Jung Karki. Bharat Khawas also had a shot on target but that hardly bothered the Kuwaiti keeper.
Nepal coach Jack Stefanoswski started with Rabin Shrestha, Aditya Chaudhary, Rohit Chand, Asim Jung Karki, Jagajeet Shrestha, Bikram Lama, Sandip Rai, Bharat Khawas, Alan Neupane, Ranjit Dhimal and Sagar Thapa.
Stefanoswski made three changes in the second half sending in Heman Gurung in place of Ranjit Dhimal in the 55th minute. Suhsil KC in for Ashim Jung Karki in the 68th minute and Amar Dangol in the for Bharat Khawas in the 83rd minute.
