When the deadline of filing the candidacy ended at 5 PM on Saturday, hundreds of people gathered at ANFA Complex, Satdobato to congratulate Ganesh Thapa who was elected at the President post unopposed.

On Friday, Thapa's rival Geeta Rana tried to file her nomination but ANFA Election officers didn't recognizer her supporters as they weren't registered with ANFA.

This is Thapa's fourth term in the coveted post.

The election process has become controversial following the ANFA decision to reject the candidacy of Thapa´s longtime rival Geeta Rana for the post.

Talking with reporters after receiving garlands from his supporters, Thapa promised to take Nepalese football to uptimum height. "I and my team will work hard and will take Nepalese football to that height where we can feel proud". "We have many responsibilities and we will reveal our work-line after somedays".

However, His rival Geeta Rana is challenging Thapa as she vowed to go court challenging ANFA statute. Rana will probably file her petition on Sunday. But, ANFA has elected Thapa as the president.
