Final Squad for SAFF announced

Dec 9, 2016 – The Final Squad for the 4th SAFF Women’s Championship to be held in Siliguri, India from 26th December has been revealed at ANFA Complex, Satdobato on Tuesday.

The final squad comprises of 20 players with 3 goalkeepers, 6 defenders, 7 midfielders and 4 forwards. From the preliminary squad of 30 players, 10 players missed the final cut.

Kumar Thapa is the Head Coach of team while Asmita Khawas is assisting the coach. Renuka Nagarkote will captain the team with Anchali Waiwa deputising. Shivanee Thapa is the Team Manager while Subas Humagain (Media Officer) and Bhumika Kayastha (Physiotherapist) will also be part of the team delegation.

Nepal are drawn in Group ‘A’ along with Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bhutan. While defending Champions India are pooled with Bangladesh and Afghanistan in Group ‘B’. Nepal will open their tournament with match against Bhutan on 26th December while they face Maldives on 28th December. Nepal will face Sri Lanka in the final group match on 30th December. The semifinal matches will be played on 2nd January, 2017 and the final is scheduled for January 4th, 2017.

Nepal will take on Malaysia in an International Friendly on 17th December prior to their departure for the tournament.
