Nepal goes down to Japan

Mar 12, 2017 - Nepal faced a heavy 9-0 loss against Japan in the ongoing SFT South Asia JFA U-16 Football Exchange Programme being held in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Sunday.

 

Nepal gave a good fight to the Japanese team in the first 20 minutes of the game but could not match the level of quality in the aftermath. Sako Maya opened the scoring for Japan in the 17th minute with a header from a corner. Kondo Kuraba scored a hattrick in the first half as he found the back of the net in 21st, 32nd and 35th minute of the match. Skipper Nishikawa Jun scored 2 with goals in 32nd and 47th minute of the match.
Nepal's goalkeeper Roshan Thapa saved a penalty in the 50th minute as he dived left to deny Sumiko Koshiro from the spot. Koshiro, however scored a goal as he found the back of the net in 64th minute. Nakano scored a brace for the winning team with goals in the 58th and 85th minute of the match.

Nepal will take on Sri Lanka in the final match of the programme. The match will be played on 14th March at 19:15 NST.
