Nepal leave for Malaysia

May 19, 2017 - The Nepal National Women’s team will be leaving for Malaysia late Friday night to play two friendly matches against the Malaysian National team.

Organizing a farewell program at the ANFA Complex,  ANFA President Narendra Shrestha, ANFA Vice President Mani Kunwar and other ANFA officials bid farewell to the team.

ANFA President Narendra Shrestha extended his best wishes to the squad, motivating them to produce a wining result like the one they had achieved over the same team last December ahead of the SAFF Championship in India.

Nepal had defeated Malaysia 1-0 in the last friendly held in Kathmandu in December with Sabitra Bhandari’s goal.

Shreshta further added that the ANFA is committed to strengthening the women’s squad targeting the upcoming SAFF Championship. In the run up to the biennial event, the football association will be holding national team trainings twice a week and more players will be selected in the days to come from the various tournament that have been lined up.

The first friendly in Malaysia is scheduled for May 22 while the second friendly is on May 24. Both the matches will be played at the Stadium Likas in Kota Kinabalu.

The friendly is a fine tuner for the Malaysia team gearing for the SEA Games to be held in Malaysia from Aug. 15-30. The friendly is being conducted in the initiation of Malaysia but an offer to play two matches was proposed by the ANFA.

Other than the inclusion of Armed Police Force player Sajana Rana in place of Army player Dipa Adhikari, all the others are the same members that represented Nepal in the recently held SAFF Championship in India.
