India's ranking will not intimidate us: Koji

Nepal head coach Koji Gyotoku says that India’s current  FIFA ranking will not mean a thing to his team when the two sides meet in a friendly in Mumbai at the Andheri Sports Complex on Tuesday (7:15 PM Kickoff).

India currently sit at the 100th position in the FIFA ranking, while Nepal lie at a distant 169th.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference held on Monday, Koji said that his team had eyes only for the victory.

He added that it would be difficult for the team to play against India as their player have improved in the last two year under coach Stephen Constaintine but he expressed his confidence that his players will give their best in the away match.

Nepal tem captain Biraj Maharjan acknowledged the strength of the Indian side saying that he was a regular follower of Indian football and has seen the country improve rapidly of late.

 “ We respect India as an opponent and we can learn a lot of new things from them, but we will give them a tough fight,” he said.

India coach Stepehen Constaintine, meanwhile, said that Nepal is a very hardworking team who will put up a tough fight until they can’t fight anymore.

He also thanked Nepal for accepting the invitation for the friendly. The friendly is being held as part of preparation for the AFC Asian Cup 2019 Qualifiers. Nepal will be taking on Yemen at home, while India face Kyrgyz Republic.
