Sankata, Police advance to SF

June 9, 2017 - CMG Club Sankata and Nepal Police Club advanced to the semi-finals of the Lalit Meomrial U-18 Championship following wins in their respective matches at the ANFA Complex on Friday.

In the first match of the day, Sankata Club routed Royal Treasurer Jawalakhel 4-1to meet Friends’ in the last four, while Police rallied to edge Himalayan Sherpa 3-2 to set up a mouth watering clash against departmental rivals Nepal Army.

Devraj Tamang was architect of the win for Sankata scoring a treble. His first of the match came in the 35th minute, while he scored his second in the 38th minute. He completed his hat-trick in the 88th minute before Laxman Gurung scored in the 54th minute. The only goal for Jawalakhel came through Sushant Chaudhary in the 67th minute.

Nepal Police came from twice behind to defeat Himalayan Sherpa 3-2. Sherpa had a perfect start going in front in the 11th minute through Abhinash Tamang only for Rajiv Lopchan to restore parity in the 44th minute.

Diwash Bohara restored the Himalayan’s lead in the 74th minute, but a spirited performance from Police saw Abhisekh Rijal score twice in the 77th and 84th minute to hand over Police a thrilling victory.

Both the semi-final matches will be held on Saturday.
