Training for AFC U-23 Qualifiers starts

June 16, 2017 - Nepal’s preparation for the AFC U-23 Championship Qualifiers to take place in UAE from July 19- 23 began at the ANFA Complex on Friday.

Raju Kaji Shakya is taking care of the preliminary squad consisting of 40 players in the absence of head coach Megh Raj KC who is in Japan attending the JFA Coaching Instructors Course. Of the 40 players, 11 had been called up for national team trainings held earlier.

Shakya will be filling in for KC until his arrival on June 19. Prakash Aryal will be deputizing KC, while ANFA Deputy General Secretary Sanjob Mishra will be managing the team.

 In the qualifiers, Nepal are grouped with host UAE, Uzbekistan and Lebanon.

Nepal have their first match against UAE on July 19 followed by matches against Uzbekistan on July 21 and against Lebanon on July 23.
