Bangladesh secure pole position

Aug. 22, 2017 - Bangladesh secured top spot in Group 'A' after beating Bhutan 3-0 in the SAFF U-15 Championship on Tuesday at ANFA Complex.

Nepal will take on India in the last match of Group 'B' on Wednesday to decide who will advance as the winner.

MD MIRAJ MOLLA scored a brace while MD FOYSAL AHMED FAHIM scored a piece for the winning side.

A 25th minute FOYSAL AHMED FAHIM strike opened the lead for Bangladesh.

The Bhutanese defense looked shaky after the half time and Bangladesh took advantage of the situation dominating the game throughout. MD MIRAJ MOLLA was the architect in the dominating attack scoring twice in the 52nd and 81st minute.

Bhutan, who opened the first fifteen minute in a positive note, had showed some sights to bounce back but were left hapless in several opportunities.

“I am satisfied with the performance. My boys gave their best against a physically strong team,” said head coach of Bhutan SONGJUN LEE in the post match conference.

Answering to the queries, LEE also said he would prefer Nepal in the semis.

“India and Nepal are both a strong team. However, I would to meet Nepal in the semifinal because Nepal are the home and it would be a wonderful experience for my boys to play in that sort of atmosphere.”

Likewise, Bangladesh coach MOSTOFA ANOWAR PARVEZ said: “No opponent is easy. My strategy against the team worked out well. Like in the previous match, we had several goal scoring chance, but we could not capitalize on them."
