Nepal continued their dominant run in the SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship 2025 with a resounding 7-0 victory over Sri Lanka.
Purnima Rai opened the scoring in the 16th minute, setting the tone for what would be a one-sided affair. Kusum Khatiwada struck twice in quick succession in the 35th and 44th minutes, while Sarita Kumari Nath added another in the 42nd minute to give Nepal a commanding 4-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Birsana Chaudhary extended the lead with a composed penalty in the 67th minute. Samikshya Magar then wrapped up the emphatic win with two quick goals in the 74th and 78th minutes.

Samikshya Magar added to the tally in the 13th minute with a composed finish, while Purnima Rai struck twice in quick succession during first-half stoppage time (45+3 and 45+5) to send Nepal into halftime with a 5-0 lead.

Nepal suffered a narrow 2-3 defeat to Bangladesh in a dramatic encounter at the SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship 2025.
Bangladesh took an early lead through Sinha Jahan Shikha in the 14th minute, and extended their advantage with a second goal from MST Sagorika in the 37th minute, giving the visitors a 2-0 cushion heading into the break.
Nepal mounted a strong second-half comeback. Anisha Rai converted a penalty in the 78th minute to bring Nepal back into the game, and Meena Deuba found the equalizer in the 87th minute.
However, heartbreak struck in the dying moments of stoppage time when Sree Moti Trishna Rani scored for Bangladesh in the 90+7th minute, sealing the win and denying Nepal a share of the points.
Nepal will now look to bounce back in their next match against Sri Lanka.

Nepal got off to a flying start in the SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship 2025 with a dominant 6-1 victory over Bhutan at the Dasharath Stadium on Tuesday.
Forward Senu Pariyar opened the scoring early in the 9th minute and doubled the lead just before halftime in the 45th minute. Purnima Rai was the standout performer of the match, scoring four goals in the 18th, 63rd, 84th, and 88th minutes to complete a sensational haul and seal a resounding win for the home side.
Bhutan managed to pull one back through Kelden Wangmo in the 54th minute, but it was little more than a consolation as Nepal continued their attacking onslaught in the second half.
Nepal next face Bangladesh in their upcoming group match.
