ANFA bids farewell to national team travelling to England

ANFA bid farewell to the national team departing for England to compete against the England C team. British Ambassador to Nepal Rob Fenn graced the farewell ceremony, joined by ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang, Senior Vice President Bir Bahadur Khadka, General Secretary Kiran Rai, Ex-Co members Manish Joshi and Bharat Budh Thapa, Spokesperson Suresh Shah and Communication Manager at British Embassy Prerana Marasini.

Ambassador Fenn, reminiscing about his childhood playing days, expressed his support for the Nepali national team, following his allegiance to English Club Stoke City. He wished for a positive outcome for the Nepali team.

ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang extended gratitude to former ANFA President Karma Tshering Sherpa for initiating the friendly match. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid pandemic, the current Ex-Co pursued the initiative and anticipated the match would be a valuable learning experience for the national team.

President Nembang also handed a Nepali jersey to the ambassador.

Final squad for friendly against England C team announced

The final squad for the upcoming friendly against England C team has been announced.

National men's team head coach Vincenzo Alberto Annese announced his 23-member squad on Monday.

Nepal will play the friendly on May 6.

Samajik defeated Swoyambhu, RC32 and Social Welfare ends in draw

Samajik Youth Club defeated Swoyambhu Club 4-2 in the Martyr's Memorial C Division League 2024 on Friday.

In the match delayed by more than an hour, Yugesh Shrestha scored twice in three minutes for Samajik Youth. Shrestha scored his first in the 18th minute before doubling it in the 21st minute. Prabin Kumar Syangtan halved the deficit for Swoyambhu in the 47th minute but Subash Gole scored in the 74th minute to restore the two-goal cushion.

Swoyambu's Prakash Pun scored seven minutes from time but the team was unable to prevent the defeat.

In the other match, RC32 Football Academy played 1-1 draw against Social Welfare Sports Center Club. Social Welfare's Roshan Chhetri's fifth minute strike was cancelled by Kismat Limbu in the 45th minute.

Golbazar draw Raniban, Manohara defeat Pulchowk

Golbazar Sports Club and Raniban Sports Club Martyr's Memorial C Division League 2024 match on Wednesday ended in 1-1 draw. Yonjan Hamal' 16th minute strike was cancelled by Himanchal Singh's penalty in the 44th minute.

Manohara United Youth Club defeated Pulchowk Sports Club 4-1 for their third win.

Sanjaya Shrestha gave Manohara the lead in the 24th minute of the match. Pulchowk had an opportunity in the 35th minute to level the score but the shot was skied by Salil Dhakal. Bibas Magar in the 51st minute and Lila Bahadur Thapa Magar in the 78th minute made it 3-0 for Manohara.

Shyrab Lo Tamang scored the first for Pulchowk in the 80th minute but Sanjaya Shrestha's second goal of the match in the 89th minute secured the commanding victory for Manohara.
