ANFA, Nepal Army sign MoU to establish football academy

All Nepal Football Association, Tribhuvan Army Football Club and Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya on Sunday signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish football academy.

The MoU was signed by ANFA Vice President and Chairperson of Youth and Grassroots Upendra Man Singh, Tribhuvan Army Football Club's President Lieutenant Colonel Brajesh Maharjan and Lieutenant Colonel Anup Shah, Liaison Officer of Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya, Sallaghari, Bhaktapur amid a special function at Nepal Army Headquarters in Bhadrakali.

ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa, Nepali Army's Director General of Military Training and Doctrine Major General Niranjan Shrestha and Director of Welfare Planning Brigadier General Sagar Bahadur KC exchanged the MoU at the programme.

The agreement states a total of 21 students―seven from Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya, seven selected from across the country with scholarship from ANFA and seven others who wish to pay for admission―will be admitted in the academy.

Speaking at the program, ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa said this was another step of coordination between ANFA and Nepali Army. He said ANFA will continue its coordination with army on developing footballing infrastructures and hoped the players produced by the academy will not only help Tribhuvan Army Football Club but also contribute to the national team.
