India comfortably defeated Nepal 5-1 and ended their diminishing chances in the SAFF U-18 Women's Championship in Jamshedpur on Monday.

It was an improved performance as compared to the 7-0 defeat in the opening match but India still were the better side and comfortably defeated Nepal at JRD Sports Complex in Jamshedpur.

Forward Lynda Kom Serto scored a hat-trick in the win for India. Shilky Devi Hemam headed in India's first in the 16th minute through a header from a corner. Serto doubled the advantage in the 23rd minute and gave a 3-0 lead by halftime with another goal in the 38th.

Anita Kumari scored a long ranger scorcher in the 56th minute and Serto's fifth in the 61st, which also completed her hat-trick, ended Nepal's run in the championship.

Sadipa Bholan scored a consolation for Nepal in the 79th minute after a howler by Indian goalkeeper. Nepal had to win today's game by a big margin to have any hopes of claiming the championship.

Nepal will now play its final match of the championship against Bangladesh on Wednesday.

India currently lead the championship with nine points from three matches and are in prime position to secure the title.
