Goalkeeper Bishal Shrestha has announced his retirement from international career.
Shrestha announced he was calling time from the national team after the final league game of FC Chitwan in the Nepal Super League season two on Friday. Shrestha had captained FC Chitwan in the second season.
"I had made up my mind to retire after the SAFF Championship [in India]. I thought to give space to the new generation," said Shrestha who was adjudged Player of the Match in Chitwan's final league match.
Shrestha had debuted for the national team against India on September 5, 2021. He replaced Kiran Chemjong in the 86th minute to make his long-awaited debut for the national team.
"I had to wait and finally got my chance in September. That was a memorable day for me. I would like to thank all who supported me during my time with the national team," he added.
