Nepal’s women’s football team put on an impressive performance, defeating the Maldives 11-0 in their opening match of the 2024 SAFF Women’s Championship.
The match, held at Dasarath Stadium in Kathmandu on Monday, saw Nepal dominate from start to finish. Rekha Poudel was the standout player, scoring five goals goals. Preeti Rai also made her mark, netting a hat-trick.
Sabita Rana Magar, Anita KC, and Amisha Karki each contributed a goal, completing the 11-0 scoreline.
The Maldives struggled throughout the match, unable to cope with Nepal’s fast-paced attacking play and solid defense.
Nepal had played a goalless draw against Bhutan in their opening goal. Nepal will now face Sri Lanka in their final group game on Thursday.
