Nepal's U-16 women's football team suffered a heavy defeat against Bhutan in a friendly match held at the Dasharath Stadium on Friday. Bhutan showcased a dominant performance, clinching a 5-1 victory over the home side in the first match of the International Youth Friendly matches.
The match was inaugurated by National Sports Council Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising, who handed over the match balls to the officials in a brief opening ceremony.
Bhutan's Kuenden Sonam Tshogyal opened the scoring in the 25th minute, followed by two quick goals from Tshering Lhamo in the 36th and 40th minutes. Kuenden Sonam Tshogyal added another goal to her tally in the 66th minute, and Ugyen Tshomo sealed the win with a penalty in the 84th minute. Nepal's lone goal came in the 86th minute, courtesy of Sabina Tamang.
Nepal will now play the second match of the tournament against the same side on Sunday. Nepal's U-19 women’s team is set to face Bhutan’s U-19 women’s team on December 22 at the same venue.
