All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has received a conditional offer from South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) to host the 13th edition of SAFF Championship in October.

SAFF General Secretary Anwarul Huq sent a conditional hosting letter to ANFA General Secretary Indraman Tuladhar to host the Championship in Nepal.

General Secretary Tuladhar said ANFA will now ready a detailed proposal of the Championship and send it to SAFF for approval.

The final decision regarding hosting will be taken in the SAFF executive meeting which will take place in the first week of August.

A virtual meeting between member countries was held on July 23 regarding the host country after Bangladesh Football Federation pulled out as host due to the rising coronavirus infections in the country.

The biennial men's football championship has been held twice in Nepal, first in 1997 and the second in 2013 where Nepal lost to Afghanistan in the semi-final.

India has been the most successful country in the championship lifting the title on seven occasions. Nepal are yet to reach the final of the Championship.
