Machhindra become champion for second consecutive time after defeating Satdobato

Machhindra Football Club (MFC) won the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League 2021/22 title after defeating Satdobato Youth Club (SYC) 1-0.

Second-placed Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) cannot topple MFC off the table even if they win their remaining three matches and MFC lose their two. MFC, on 29 points, will still top the table even if MMC, on 20, win their remaining three matches by by virtue of better head-to-head difference. MFC had defeated MMC 1-0 at Dasharath Stadium.

Norlan Novruzov scored the only goal in the 53rd minute after a tepid first half in the match at Dasharath Stadium.

MFC players and officials celebrated at the full whistle and dedicated the win to their forward Manish Dangi who was rushed to the hospital after collapsing on the pitch following a collision in their previous match against Chyasal Youth Club.

In the other match at ANFA Complex, TAFC, who still had chances to catch MFC but only mathematically, could only manage a draw against HSC. TAFC had taken a lead through George Prince Karki in the 26th minute who scored after receiving the ball from Tek Bahadur Budathoki.

But Mutamba Pistone Vunyoli levelled the score in the 65th minute after he ran with the ball due to a poor back pass by TAFC player. TAFC had their goalkeeper Bikesh Kuthu sent off in the added time after he was deemed to have handled the ball outside the box to stop HSC's Suresh Kumal from scoring.

SYC, playing in the top-tier for the first time, are placed sixth after 15 points from 11 matches. TAFC are third with 19, but can be replaced by Three Star Club (TSC), on 17 points, who play Nepal Police Club in the final match of the day at 4:45 pm at Dasharath Stadium.
