ANFA bids farewell to men's national team

All Nepal Football Association on Wednesday bade farewell to the national men's football team set to play two friendly matches against Bangladesh national team.

Chief guest Member Secretary of National Sports Council Ramesh Silwal bade farewell to the players and officials at the Dasharath Stadium. ANFA Senior Vice President Pankaj Bikram Nembang, Vice Presidents Shixit Parajuli and Upendra Man Singh, General Secretary Indraman Tuladhar and other ANFA staffs were also present in the ceremony.

ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa, currently recovering from Covid-19, wished good luck to the national team through a letter.

Member Secretary Silwal welcomed the resumption of football in the country and wished the national team well for the two friendlies. He hoped the two games would lift the mood of the Nepali people currently going through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Senior Vice President Nembang also believed the national team would do well against the Bangladeshi side.

Twenty-five players and eleven officials are travelling to Bangladesh on Thursday for the friendlies on November 13 and 17 in Dhaka.

National team training begins for Bangladesh friendly

The national men's football team on Thursday began training at Dasharath Stadium as part of preparations for the two friendly matches against Bangladesh.

Thirty of the thirty-four players called up for the national team took part in the training. Four players tested positive for Covid-19 and have been sent in isolation facilities. The nasal and throat samples of the players were collected on Wednesday.

Bal Gopal Maharjan, who was given the responsibility of the national team in absence of head coach Johan Kalin, took charge of the training along with assistant coach Kiran Shrestha and goalkeeping coach Bikash Malla.

Bangladesh is hosting Nepal in two friendly matches on November 13 and 17.

Bal Gopal Maharjan tasked with head coach responsibilities for Bangladesh friendlies

Bal Gopal Maharjan has been given the responsibilities of head coach of the men’s national team for the two friendly matches against Bangladesh national team.

Head Coach Johan Kalin, currently in his native Sweden, will not be available for the friendlies due to the travel restrictions set in his country in the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Kiran Shrestha has been charged with assistant coach role and Bikash Malla as goalkeeping coach.

Meanwhile, the training for the two friendlies against Bangladesh will begin on Thursday. National team players will arrive for the training on Wednesday.
