Nepal Women's Team to compete in Nadezhda Cup

As part of the preparations for the South Asian Games to be held in Nepal this December, the Nepal National Women's Team will be competing in the Nadezhda Cup 2019 to held in Kyrgyzstan from Sept. 8-12. A total of four teams-Nepal, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan - shall compete in the tournament. 

The tournament will be staged in the city Karakol, Issyk-Kul region.

The organizers said that the tournament matches will be held according to the Laws of the Game of Football (edition 2019-2020), which is approved by the IFAB.

If no winner is determined at the end of normal playing time during the Final Stage, Kicks from the Penalty Mark shall be taken in accordance with the Laws of the Games and the manual.

Chet Narayan downsize squad to 30

Head coach Chet Narayan Shrestha trimmed his preliminary squad from 46 to 30 after Monday’s selection match played among with the team.

The team also had played a friendly match with Nepal U16 team last Friday.

Coach Shrestha said that the omitted players are promising but still needs to improve themselves.

“Few players (12 players) in the squad has A Division experience and I believe that the reduced players can improve by playing domestic competitions and leagues.

Nepal have been placed in Group A of the SAFF U18 Championship alongside Bhutan, Maldives and Pakistan.

“My team have clear objective, to reach final and win it. We are in fair group and for us the important thing is Nepal is hosting the championship.”

“We may not be the favorite team but we are ready,” said Shrestha to ANFA Media.

APF Stadium, Kathmandu is hosting the championship from 20 to 29 September 2019.

Shrestha will announce his final 23-member squad in the first week of September.

Nepal to play first match in Kuwait

Kathmandu, 9 August 2019 – The Nepal National Team will be playing its first match of the World Cup 2022 Preliminary Competition/ AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Qualifiers in Kuwait, the Kuwait FA agreed to All Nepal Football Association's request to swap the fixtures concering the two sides, Friday morning.

The All Nepal Football Association had requested Kuwait FA, Chinese Taipei FA and Jordan FA to swap the fixtures due to the unavilabitly of the stadium.

Chinese Taipei and Jordan both had agreed but Kuwait FA had propsed both the matches to be played in Kuwait, to which the AFC and FIFA had declined basing their decision on the itegrity of the competition.

Following the acceptance from Kuwait, it is now confirmed that the first match shall be held in Kuwait on 5 September 2019. The match against Australia shall be held as per the orginial schedule.

As for the home matches, the All Nepal Football Associatioin (ANFA) is in talks with the National Sports Council and other member associations of the AFC to have it hosted in a neutral venue or in Nepal itself.

"We have been coordinating with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Council to host Nepal's match on November 19 in Nepal.  If we forsee the facilities in Nepal will not be ready by then we shall go for a neutral venue," said Kiran Rai, ANFA Spokesperson/ Ex.Co member.

Nepal U15 Final Squad Announced

Nepal U-15 head coach Sunil Shrestha has announced his final squad for the SAFF U15 Championship that is scheduled to be held in Kalyani, India this month.

The matches will be played in Kalyani Stadium from 21st to 31st August.

52 players from nationwide trails and selections were called in the initilal phase of the preparatory camp.

Shrestha is assisted by Raj Kumar K.C and goalkeeping coach Binod Maharjan.

“I think we have fair chance to win the championship but I won’t say that we are going to start as favorites. India is a bit tough opponent and we play them in our first match.”’

“The first match is going to be very crucial and we are sure to make it to the finals and win the championship,”

“We aim to win and the boys will get many things to learn from the championship,” said Shrestha to ANFA Media.

Nepal will take on India in the inaugural match of the championship.

Nepal’s next match will be on August 23 against Sri Lanka, followed by Bangladesh on August 27and against Bhutan on August 29.

The top two teams from the round robin stage will play the finals on August 31.
