Asian Football Confederation has granted All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) with the AFC Grassroots Charter Memberships following Nepal's stupendous work towards promoting grassroots football.
Nepal was awarded with Bronze Membership following Nepal's outstanding achievements in the development of football.
In a letter to ANFA General Secretary Indraman Tuladhar, Dato Windsor John, AFC General Secretary, wrote, "We are pleased to inform you that your application for membership at the bronze level of the AFC Grassroots Charter has been approved by the AFC Grassroots Panel on 12 October, 2020.
ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa said this was a recognition of hard work by ANFA. "This is a big achievement in the history of Nepali football. Our hard work has paid off and has been recognized. This has given us the strength to work hard for the development of Nepali football," said Sherpa.
ANFA Vice President and Grassroots and Youth Coordinator Upendra Man Singh also labelled this as a milestone in Nepali football. "It is important for us to keep our football's foundation strong and without grassroots development we know our foundations will weaken," said Singh. Singh said the Covid-19 pandemic has been a major barrier this year and said the membership will give them a sense of new enthusiasm and add vigour to do better in coming days.
Gary Phillips, Technical Director at ANFA, said the membership is the first step in raising the standard of Nepali football. "We put our planning to action after direction from ANFA leadership and with competent manpower and guidance from AFC, the seed of our hard work has bore sweet fruit," said Philips.
Grassroots Manager Manoj Ranjit said the achievement was a result of works for nearly two years and had given them further responsibility towards receiving Silver Membership.
