APF clinch title of ANFA Women's League, sweep individual awards

APF Football Club secured the ANFA Women's League title with a commanding 4-0 victory over Nepal Police Club in the final at Dasharath Stadium on Wednesday.

Sabita Rana Magar starred in the final, scoring twice, while Saru Limbu and Anu Lama added a goal each to seal the emphatic win for APF.

Nepal Police managed to hold off APF’s relentless attack for nearly an hour before Magar broke the deadlock in the 64th minute. Limbu quickly doubled the lead five minutes later, and Magar netted her second in the 83rd minute. In a fairytale ending to her career, Anu Lama, playing in her final competitive match before retirement, capitalized on a mistake by Nepal Police goalkeeper Usha Nath to score APF’s fourth goal.

With the victory, APF claimed the championship trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 1 million, while runner-up Nepal Police received Rs 500,000.

APF also dominated the individual awards. Sabita Rana Magar was named the Most Valuable Player, Rashmi Kumari Ghising won the Highest Scorer award with 35 goals, and Sabitri Kisan was honored as the Best Goalkeeper. Magar received a cash prize of Rs 100,000, while Ghising and Kisan won Rs 50,000 each.

Meanwhile, Tribhuvan Army Football Club received the Fair Play Award and a cash prize of Rs 150,000.

Coaching staffs for Nepal-China youth friendly announced

The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has appointed the coaching staff for the Nepal Youth Team ahead of their upcoming match against the China Yunnan youth football team.

Rajesh Shahi has been named the head coach, with Dipak Bhusal serving as the assistant coach. Sailesh Karmacharya and Dilip Chhetri have been appointed as goalkeeping coaches.

All of the coaches received their appointment letters from ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai at ANFA Complex on Friday.

The coaching team will lead the squad as they prepare for the friendly on February 15 at Dasharath Stadium. This match is part of the collaboration between ANFA and the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on January 22.

As the official organizer of the match, ANFA will provide all necessary technical support, while the Yunnan Sports Bureau and the National Sports Council will act as guiding units in coordination with the Chinese Embassy.

Rajendra Tamang appointed head coach of national women's team

The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has appointed Rajendra Tamang as the head coach of the national women's team for the upcoming International Women's Championship, scheduled from February 17-26.

Tamang received his appointment letter from ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai at the ANFA Complex. He had previously stepped down after the team's loss in the finals of the competition but will now return to lead Nepal against Myanmar, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Lebanon.

Additionally, Brindra Dewan will continue in her role as Team Manager. She also received her appointment letter from General Secretary Rai.

Nepal will compete in the international friendly tournament at Dasharath Stadium.

ANFA/AFC B Diploma Course participants receive certificates

The participants of the ANFA/AFC B Diploma Course were awarded their certificates during a small ceremony held at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato on Monday. ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang distributed the certificates to the 18 successful candidates.

In his address, he expressed hope that the course would produce highly skilled football coaches who would contribute significantly to the growth and development of football in Nepal.

The ANFA/AFC B Diploma Course is designed to elevate the skills of football coaches aspiring to work at a professional level or deepen their understanding of football techniques and tactics. The course covers various aspects such as match day preparation, periodization planning, match analysis, and the roles of support staff.

Coaches are assessed through exams and practical submissions, including individual training sessions and long-term planning. The course was conducted in two phases; the first phase took place in June 2024, while the second phase was held from November 23 to December 8, 2024. A total of 23 participants had taken part in the course.

The closing ceremony was also attended by ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai, CEO Indraman Tuladhar, Deputy General Secretary Vijay Ghale, Technical Director Hari Khadka, among others.
