Dates of knockout tournaments confirmed

All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has approved dates for the organization of various knockout football tournaments in the country.

As per the dates, the Rajarshi Janak Gold Cup and Mayor Cup Football Tournament will be played in Sarlahi and Mahottari districts respectively from February 9 to February 18. The tournaments will be followed by Makwanpur Gold Cup in Makwanpur from February 12 to February 21.

Bhadrapur Gold Cup will be played in Bhadrapur, Jhapa and Tilottama Gold Cup will be played in Rupandehi from February 19 to February 28. KP Oli Cup in Kathmandu will be held from February 23 to March 1.

Budasubba Gold Cup in Sunsari has been approved from February 25 to March 4 followed by Mai Valley Gold Cup in Ilam and Itahari Gold Cup in Itahari from March 18 to March 25.

Birat Gold Cup in Morang and Simara Gold Cup in Bara will be final knockout tournaments from March 23 to April 1.

Committees formed for A Division League preparations

The League Organizing Committee (LOC) of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has formed various committees to prepare for the Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League.

The first meeting of LOC held at ANFA Complex in Satdobato on Monday formed the Health Committee, Marketing Committee, Security Committee, Media and Publicity Committee and Venue Management Committee under coordination of various Ex-Co members.

Ex-co Members Rupesh Adhikari will lead the Health Committee while Rabindra Chand will head the Marketing Committee. Media and Publicity Committee and Security Committee will be coordinated by ANFA Spokesperson Suresh Shah and Ex-Co member Pema Dolma Lama respectively.

Venue Management Committee will be led by Ex-Co members Purushottam Thapa, Ramesh Byanjankar and Bikash Narayan Shrestha. Thapa will manage the venue at ANFA Complex while Byanjankar will be in-charge at Chyasal Stadium. Bikash Narayan Shrestha will take over at Dasharath Stadium.

LOC coordinator and ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang, Senior Vice President Bir Bahadur Khadka and four vice presidents―Birat Jung Shahi, Dawa Lama, Deepak Khatiwada and Dirgha Bahadur KC―will monitor and give necessary suggestions to the newly-formed committees.

The meeting was chaired by LOC coordinator Nembang.

The LOC was formed by the emergency Ex-Co meeting of ANFA on January 13 with President Nembang as its Coordinator and all Ex-Co members as its members.

The Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League 2023 begins from March 3. The fixtures for the first five rounds of the league have also been released.

Final U-20 national women's squad for SAFF Championship announced

The final squad of the U-20 national women's team has been announced on Monday.

Head coach Yam Prasad Gurung announced his final squad.

The team will take part in the SAFF U-20 Women's Championship to be held in Dhaka from February 3-9, 2023.

Final squad:

Goalkeepers: Kabita BK, Sabitri Kishan, Lila Joshi

Defenders: Sabina Chaudhary, Sajani Thokar, Saru Hamal, Sunita Bhulan, Divya Yasmalai Magar, Pratikshya Chaudhary, Kumari Tamang

ANFA statement on news regarding misuse of World Cup tickets

The news published in The Kathmandu Post with the title 'ANFA misused Qatar World Cup tickets' on January 21, 2023 has brought the attention of the ANFA and we would like to confirm that there were no 'misuse' of the World Cup tickets by the ANFA.

The ANFA had requested the AFC for helping the organisation to secure the FIFA World Cup tickets on behalf of ANFA due to foreign exchange restrictions in Nepal and the tickets were purchased and distributed at the organisation level. The purchasing process was transparent and there were no individual deals for vested motives as claimed by the article. 

The ANFA would like to thank the AFC for its continuous support since 2018 on securing the World Cup tickets for Nepal.
