Punam, Dipa and Indira announce retirement from national duties

Nepali internationals Punam Jargha Magar, Dipa Rai and Indira Rai have announced retirement from national duties.

The trio announced their retirement after the finals of the SAFF Women's Championship 2022.

A special programme was organized at the Dasharath Stadium after their retirement. National Sports Council Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising donned the trio with blazers.

All three players represent Tribhuvan Army Football Club in the national level.

Head coach Thapa announces he is stepping down from his role

Nepal's women's team head coach Kumar Thapa said he was leaving his role after the team's defeat in the SAFF Women's Championship 2022.

Thapa, appointed to the post prior to the competition, announced he was leaving in the post-match conference. "I think it is not right for me to continue in the role following the defeat," said Thapa in the post-match conference.

"I am sad we couldn't win the championship. Not its time for another person to take up the role," he said.

Nepal lost 3-1 to Bangladesh in the finals at Dasharath Stadium on Monday.

Agony for Nepal as Bangladesh win maiden SAFF Women's Championship

Bangladesh won their maiden SAFF Women's Championship 2022 defeating Nepal 3-1 in the finals on Monday.

Nepal's hope of lifting the title in front of a sold out crowd at Dasharath Stadium ended in agony. nepal's head coach Kumar Thapa also announced he was leaving his post following the defeat in the finals.

Shamsunnahar gave Bangladesh the lead in the 13th minute. Srimoti Krishnarani Sarkar doubled the lead in the 42nd.

Backed by a vocal crowd Nepal slowly began to put some pessure in the second half. With rain pouring heavily, Anita Basnet pulled one back in the 77th minute. But any comeback from Nepali side was quickly distinguished as Sarkar scored Bangladesh's third in the 77th minute.

It was Bangladesh first ever win over Nepal in the SAFF Women's Championship.

Bangladesh also clean-swept individual award of the competition.

Bangladesh's Sabina Khatun won the Player of the Tournament award. She also won the highest goalscorer award with eight goals.

Goalkeeper Rupna Chakma won the Best Goalkeeper award while Bangladesh also won the Fair Play award.

Martyr's Memorial 'C' Division League Qualifiers fixtures released

The tie-sheet of Martyr's Memorial 'C' Division League Qualifiers has been released. The tie-sheet was released amid a special programme at ANFA Complex in Satdobato on Sunday.

Sixty teams have registered for the competition which begins from September 22 at ANFA Complex.
