ANFA marks 7th death anniversary of Lalit Krishna Shrestha

All Nepal Football Association on Sunday organized a special programme to mark the 7th death anniversary of former acting president Lalit Krishna Shrestha.

Shrestha's wife Nilu Shrestha also inaugurated a relocated statue of late Shrestha at ANFA Complex in Satdoabato. A minute of silence was observed to mark his death on the occasion.

ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa, Senior Vice President Pankaj Bikram Nembang, vice presidents Bir Bahadur Khadka, Krishna Thapa, Shixit Parajuli and Upendra Man Singh, General Secretary Indraman Tuladhar and other ANFA members paid floral tribute to Shrestha.

Speaking in the occasion, ANFA President Sherpa and Senior Vice President Nembang and Three Star Club President Arun Man Joshi remembered the contributions made by Shrestha.

Then ANFA acting president and Three Star Club President Shrestha was electrocuted at his home in Bhaisepati on this day in 2015.

40 players finalized for closed camp of U-20 national team

Head coach of U-20 national team Megh Raj KC has finalized 40 players for the preliminary squad of the U-20 national team.

The players were called up after a selection process conducted at ANFA Complex in Satdobato from June 4.

The players called up for the camp will begin training from Monday.

Grassroot workshop concludes in Jumla

The two-day  grassroot workshop has concluded in Jumla on Saturday.

Sixteen coach educators took part in the workshop. Practical and theoretical session were conducted in the first day on Friday where participants presented their group works.

Subjects such as the importance of grassroot, its objectives, values and strategic plan needed for grassroot were discussed. The session also saw discussion on the safeguarding grassroot where various measures were explored to make grassroot safe.

The second day of the workshop focused on the overall technical development of the children. The participants discussed on the means to make grassroot festival more fun entertaining and informative.

Nepal lose 2-0 to Jordan

Nepal produced a resilient first half display but were downed by late goals in 2-0 defeat to Joran in their opening match of the AFC Asian Cup 2023 Qualifiers in Kuwait on Wednesday.

After a goalless first half, Aliyad Olwan put Jordan ahead in the 69th minute before Hamza Ali Aldaradreh added another through a penalty in the 82nd minute to complete the victory.

Debutant goalkeeper Dip Karki saved a penalty in the first half as Nepal were holed into their own half in the first 45 minutes. Gautam Shrestha had brought down Mohammad Faisal Zraiq in the penalty aread and the resulting penalty by Mousa Mohammad Suleiman was saved by Karki.

Nepal will now play their second match against hosts Kuwait on June 11.
