Chyasal relegated after losing to Friends Club

Chyasal Youth Club (CYC) have been relegated to B division after losing against Friends Club in the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League 2021/22 on Saturday.

CYC have just six points from 12 games winning just one game in the current campaign.

Jamoul Anthony Francois scored both the goals for Friends in the win whose A division status still remains unclear. Francois scored the first in the 38th minute and doubled it thorough a penalty in the 43rd.

Friends were awarded a penalty after Francois was brought down inside the box by Abhishek Limbu.

CYC pulled one back through Moussa Abagana's penalty in the 56th but could not score the equalizer which would have kept their hopes of remaining in the top tier alive.

Friends Club's head coach Mrigendra Mishra said they still have to depend on result of other games for their survival in the A division league. "Our status is not safe yet. We now have to wait for the result of other games," said Mishra. Mishra said they started the game brightly but lagged on afterwards. "We scored goals and that helped us. But they put pressure on us in the second half," said Mishra.

CYC's coach Leigh Manson said it was disappointing season for the club and apologized with the fans for the poor show. "As a playing staff and coaching staff, we have let them down. We had high hopes and feel for the community and fans," said Leigh. Leigh said that the penalty against them in the first half was a bit harsh. "We had our player elbowed in the process and unfortunately the official didn’t see that. We had to replace him," Manson said of Abhishek who was replaced after suffering a cut to his head.

The second game of the day will be played at 4:45 pm between league winners Machhindra Football Club and Three Star Club.
