KWS Planning Boys United and BBR A-One Saraswoti Youth Club ended their Martyr's Memorial B Division League 2081 campaigns with victories on the final day of the competition on Friday.
Champions Planning Boys wrapped up their season in emphatic fashion with an 8-3 win over relegated Shree Tusal Youth Club. Fagu Ram Tharu starred with a remarkable five-goal haul, while Rambabu Kumar Shah, Om Prakash Chaudhary, and Pratap Sing Rai added one goal each. Shree Tusal replied through goals from Sujan Majhi, Pradip Sunar, and Binod Nembang.
In the day’s second match at the ANFA Complex, Saraswoti defeated already-promoted Shree Bhagawati Club 3-2 in dramatic fashion. Bikran Narsingh Rana opened the scoring for Bhagawati, but Narbu Tamang brought Saraswoti level. Rana restored Bhagawati’s lead with a penalty, but Saraswoti equalized again in stoppage time through Sabin Lungel Magar before Naresh Kumar Khatri sealed the victory with a late winner.
The league concluded with an award ceremony attended by Minister for Youth and Sports Teju Lal Chaudhary, ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang, Vice President Dawa Lama, and General Secretary Kiran Rai, who handed out trophies and prizes to the top teams and individual performers.
League winners Planning Boys United received a cash prize of NRs 1.5 million, while runners-up Shree Bhagawati Club took home NRs 1 million. Boys Union Club, who finished third, were awarded NRs 500,000. Planning Boys’ Pratap Sing Rai was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, earning a cash prize of NRs 100,000. His teammate Fagu Ram Tharu, who scored 15 goals throughout the campaign, won the Highest Scorer award, while Birgunj United’s Pramijay Gachhadar was recognized as the Best Goalkeeper. Both players received NRs 50,000 each. Planning Boys also bagged the Fair Play Award, which came with a cash prize of NRs 100,000. In a notable recognition, Boys Union head coach Chandra Bhandari, the only female head coach in the league, received a special award for her contribution to the tournament.
With the season now concluded, Planning Boys United and Shree Bhagawati Club will move up to the top-tier A Division next season, while Nayabasti Youth Club and Shree Tusal Youth Club have been relegated to the C Division.
