Nepal’s women’s football team put on an impressive performance, defeating the Maldives 11-0 in their opening match of the 2024 SAFF Women’s Championship.
The match, held at Dasarath Stadium in Kathmandu on Monday, saw Nepal dominate from start to finish. Rekha Poudel was the standout player, scoring five goals goals. Preeti Rai also made her mark, netting a hat-trick.
Sabita Rana Magar, Anita KC, and Amisha Karki each contributed a goal, completing the 11-0 scoreline.
The Maldives struggled throughout the match, unable to cope with Nepal’s fast-paced attacking play and solid defense.
Nepal had played a goalless draw against Bhutan in their opening goal. Nepal will now face Sri Lanka in their final group game on Thursday.

The final squad for the friendlies against Tajikistan and Afghanistan has been announced on Friday.
Interim Head Coach Nabin Neupane announced his 23-member squad for the friendlies to be hosted by Tajikistan.
The friendlies will be played from November 13-19 during the FIFA window at the Dushanbe Central Stadium.

National men's team head coach Nabin Neupane has called up 36 players for the closed camp of the national men's football team.
The team will fly to Tajikistan for friendly in the November FIFA Window.
Neupane was appointed as the Head Coach of the men's team on Monday.

ANFA has appointed Nabin Neupane as the interim head coach of the senior men's national football team.
ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai presented the appointment letter to Neupane at ANFA Complex on Monday.
Additionally, Chetan Ghimire has been appointed as the Assistant Coach, and Nabin Maharjan will serve as the Goalkeeping Coach, both on an interim basis. They also received their appointment letters from General Secretary Rai on Monday.
The coaching team will oversee the national team during their friendly match against Tajikistan in November, with the team set to fly to Tajikistan for the game.
