Bangladesh secure SAFF U-16 Women's Championship with India win

Bangladesh defeated India 3-1 and secured a place in the finals of the SAFF U-16 Women's Championship on Tuesday.

The other finalists of the competition will be decided by the Nepal vs India match on Thursday afternoon.  

Two late goals saw Bangladesh fend off India for the place in the finals.

Alpi Akter gave Bangladesh the lead in the ninth minute of the match before India equalized through Anushka Kumari in the 55th minute.

Bangladesh restored their lead through Sauravi Akanda Prity in the 78th before Arpita Biswas sealed the victory one minute from time.

Undefeated Bangladesh play their final group match against winless and goalless Bhutan on March 8.

ANFA Referee Course 2024 begins in Jumla

The ANFA Referee Course 2024 Category 4 has begun in Jumla from Monday.

Thirty-six participants, 33 men and three women, are taking part in the course organized by Jumla District Football Association with technical support from All Nepal Football Association.

Member of Federal Parliament Kantika Sejuwal was the chief guest of the opening ceremony while ANFA Ex-Co member and President of Jumla District Football Association Bharat Budh Thapa presided the ceremony.

The seven-day course will conclude on March 9.

Nepal defeat Bhutan for first win

Nepal defeated Bhutan to register their first win of the SAFF U-16 Women's Championship at ANFA Complex on Monday.

Nepal set the tone early in the match, scoring all three goals in the first half. Puja Giri opened the scoring for Nepal in the 14th minute, followed by Bhumika Budathoki doubling their advantage in the 18th minute. Gyanshu Dolma Lo extended Nepal's lead with a goal in the 31st minute, sealing the victory for her team.

With this crucial win, Nepal keeps their hopes alive to advance to the finals of the competition. The top two teams from the single round-robin format will secure a spot in the final showdown.

Nepal's next match will be against India in their final group match on Thursday.

Bangladesh secures victory over Nepal in SAFF U-16 Women's Championship

Bangladesh emerged triumphant with a 2-0 win over Nepal in the SAFF U-16 Women's Championship at ANFA Complex in Satdobato on Saturday.

Sauravi Akanda Prity proved to be the difference-maker for Bangladesh, netting both goals in their victory. Prity opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a well-taken effort before doubling her tally from the penalty spot in the 31st minute.

Nepal will now look to bounce back as they prepare to face Bhutan in their upcoming match on Monday.
