Machhindra Football Club clinches ANFA U-16 Youth League title in dramatic finish

Machhindra Football Club emerged victorious in a nail-biting finale, securing the title of the ANFA U-16 Youth League after a hard-fought 2-1 triumph over Tribhuvan Army Football Club in their last match.

Heading into the crucial fixture, table-toppers Machhindra knew they had to secure a victory to clinch the championship. Meanwhile, second-placed Sankata Club's title aspirations were dashed as they suffered a 6-2 defeat against Nepal Police Club, allowing APF Football Academy to overtake them for second place in the standings.

In a tense encounter, Dakshya Lama gave Army the lead in the 33rd minute, but Bhupendra Dharala equalized for Machhindra in the 51st minute. The match reached a fever pitch as Machhindra secured the win and the title with a dramatic penalty converted by Kabir Tamang in the fifth minute of added time.

Champions Machhindra won the cash prize of Rs 100,000 while APF collected Rs 50,000.

ANFA officials, including Vice President Deepak Khatiwada, General Secretary Kiran Rai, and Ex-Co member Bikash Narayan Shrestha, CEO Indraman Tuladhar, Spokesperson Suresh Shah presided over the award ceremony, presenting certificates and medals to the victorious Machhindra Football Club.

Nepal's Journey in SAFF U-19 Women's Championship ends after loss to India

Nepal's hopes in the SAFF U-19 Women's Championship were dashed after a challenging 4-0 defeat to India at the BSSSMK Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Needing a victory against India to advance to the finals, Nepal fought valiantly but ultimately fell short against a strong Indian side. With this win, India secures their place in the finals against Bangladesh on February 8.

In a tightly contested first half, Nepal managed to hold off India's attacks and keep the scoreline goalless. However, India found their rhythm in the second half, with Neha breaking the deadlock in the 54th minute.

Neha's second goal in the 81st minute extended India's lead, followed by Sulanjana Raul's strike in the 86th minute. Despite Nepal's late efforts, Cindy Colney sealed the victory for India with a goal in added time.

Nepal had bounced back with a 1-0 victory over Bhutan having lost their opening match against hosts Bangladesh.

Nepal labour to victory over Bhutan in SAFF U-19 Women's Championship

Nepal emerged victorious over Bhutan in their second match of the SAFF U-19 Championship, clinching a 1-0 win at the BSSSMK Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday.

After suffering a setback with a 3-1 loss to hosts Bangladesh in their opening match, Nepal knew they had to secure a win to keep their hopes alive for the finals. Despite a tough first half where they struggled to break down Bhutan's defense, Nepal persevered and continued to press forward.

It wasn't until the 54th minute that Nepal finally found the breakthrough they were searching for, with Senu Pariyar netting the decisive goal after skillfully evading Bhutan's goalkeeper.

With this crucial victory, Nepal remains in contention for a spot in the finals of the regional competition. Securing three points from today's win, Nepal currently sits in third place, trailing behind leaders India and second-placed Bangladesh.

ANFA Referee Course CAT-4 course begins in Kavre

The ANFA Referee Course CAT-4 kicked off in Kavre on Sunday, drawing participants from 11 districts across Bagmati Province. A total of forty-two individuals are engaging in the course, aimed at enhancing their referee skills and knowledge.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Surya Lal Bhandari, Member Secretary of the Bagmati Province Sports Development Council, who ceremoniously lit an oil-fed lamp to mark the commencement of the course. Joining as special guests were ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai, Ex-Co member Bikash Narayan Shrestha, and Bagmati District Football Association President Niroj Shrestha.

This seven-day course, organized by the Bagmati District Football Association with technical support from ANFA, is set to conclude on February 10th. It promises to equip participants with the necessary expertise and insights to excel in their roles as referees within the football community.
