Bangladesh downed Nepal 3-1 in the SAFF U-19 Women's Championship in Dhaka on Friday.
In a gripping encounter at the BSSSMK Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh seized control early on, netting two goals in quick succession during the first half. Sagorika broke the deadlock in the 40th minute, followed swiftly by Munki Akhter doubling the lead just two minutes later.
Despite Nepal's determined efforts, they found themselves trailing as Bangladesh maintained their defensive resilience throughout the game.
Nepal managed to narrow the deficit with a goal in the 54th minute, injecting some hope but Bangladesh quickly responded, with Sagorika securing her second goal just three minutes later, sealing the victory for the hosts.
With this result, Nepal faces a tough challenge ahead to secure the top two spot in the Championship. They face Bhutan in their next match on Sunday. Bhutan, who suffered a heavy 10-0 defeat against India in their opening match, will be eager to bounce back, setting the stage for an intriguing encounter.
The top two sides after a single round robin matches will play in the final.
