U-19 national women's team central selection begins

The central selection of U-19 women's players for the SAFF U-19 Women's Championship to be held in Bangladesh from February 2-8 has begun at ANFA Complex in Satdobato.

Players who progressed through the district and provincial selection will take part in the selection.

ANFA had conducted district selection from Poush 1-6 for the national U-19 women's team.

AFC C Diploma Coaching Course second phase concludes

The second phase of the AFC C Diploma Coaching Course has concluded in Dharan, Sunsari on Saturday. The five-day course was organized by the Koshi Province Football Association with technical support from the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).

ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang, General Secretary Kiran Rai attended the closing session in Dharan on Wednesday.

Acting Technical Director Hari Khadka and Head of Coach Education Sanjeet Singh instructed the course. The first phase of the course was conducted from November 21 to November 27.

A total of 24 coaches took part in the course.

ANFA U-16 Youth League resumes

The ANFA U-16 Youth League has resumed from Monday.

Matches will be played on weekends and on public holidays with 10 A division clubs competing in the youth tournament.

Friends Club defeated Manang Marsyangdi Club 3-2 while Tribhuvan Army Football Club and Church Boys United played a goalless draw at ANFA Complex on Monday.

In Tuesday's game, Machhindra Football Club edged out Nepal Police Club 3-1 and APF Football Club thrashed FC Khumaltar 4-0.

Goalkeeper Bishal Shrestha calls time on international career

Goalkeeper Bishal Shrestha has announced his retirement from international career.

Shrestha announced he was calling time from the national team after the final league game of FC Chitwan in the Nepal Super League season two on Friday. Shrestha had captained FC Chitwan in the second season.

"I had made up my mind to retire after the SAFF Championship [in India]. I thought to give space to the new generation," said Shrestha who was adjudged Player of the Match in Chitwan's final league match.

Shrestha had debuted for the national team against India on September 5, 2021. He replaced Kiran Chemjong in the 86th minute to make his long-awaited debut for the national team.

"I had to wait and finally got my chance in September. That was a memorable day for me. I would like to thank all who supported me during my time with the national team," he added.
