Jhapa, Saraswoti register victories

Jhapa Football Club and BBR A-One Saraswoti Youth Club secured wins in their respective matches of the Martyr's Memorial B Division League 2081 on Wednesday.

In the day's first match, Jhapa defeated Bansbari Club 2-0. Sher Bahadur Dhimal opened the scoring in the 9th minute, while Ashim Jung Karki sealed the win with a late goal.

In the second match, Saraswoti overcame Brigade Boys Club 3-1. Bishesh Lama gave Saraswoti the lead on the stroke of half-time, and Phatteman Ghale doubled their advantage in the 71st minute. Avishek Rana Magar pulled one back for Brigade Boys, but Bigyan Khadka's injury-time goal ensured victory for Saraswoti.

U-19 national team bid farewell for SAFF U-19 Championship

The national U-19 youth team has been bid farewell for the SAFF U-19 Championship in India from May 9.

The farewell ceremony was held at ANFA Complex in Satdobato.

ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang presided over the farewell ceremony with General Secretary Kiran Rai, Ex-Co member Purushottam Thapa, CEO Indraman Tuladhar, among others, also attending.

Nepal have been drawn alongside hosts India and Sri Lanka in Group B of the competition. Nepal will play their first match against Sri Lanka on May 11 followed by against India on May 13.

FIFA Connect Workshop held for district representatives

A FIFA Connect Workshop for the member districts of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) was held at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato on Saturday.

The workshop was facilitated by FIFA's South Asia Regional Office Lead Prince Rufus and FIFA Consultant Mazahar Ahmed Mansoor, with participation from representatives of various district football associations.

ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang inaugurated the event, calling the adoption of the FIFA Connect Programme a significant milestone for Nepali football. He emphasized that the initiative would help align the country’s football governance with international standards and foster a more organized and accountable structure for football development.

Speaking at the event, ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai highlighted the importance of the programme in tracking player progress and maintaining a centralized, standardized database. He noted that FIFA Connect would enhance transparency, efficiency, and governance in football administration. Rai also expressed his gratitude to FIFA and thanked Rufus and Mansoor for sharing their insights with the district representatives.

In their remarks, FIFA officials Rufus and Mansoor commended ANFA for embracing the initiative and stressed that such workshops are crucial for systematizing football development. They expressed optimism that the FIFA Connect Programme would contribute to Nepal’s long-term football goals, including the dream of World Cup qualification, by nurturing a talented pool of players across all levels.

Ramhari Dhakal, General Secretary of Chitwan District Football Association, shared his thoughts on the ongoing digital transformation in Nepali football: 'FIFA Connect is a great step toward digitalizing Nepali football. It’s encouraging to see districts getting involved and learning from the best in the business. This move is not just about improving efficiency, but about taking Nepali football to the next level by embracing modern technology.'"

Mahottarai District Football Association representative Nirajan Karki said the online platform eliminates the need for paperwork, photo pasting, and physical forms, making the registration process completely hassle-free. The transition to digital has simplified what used to be a cumbersome task, offering a much more efficient and accessible way to register players.

RCT overcome Chyasal; Tusal sink Nayabasti in relegation battle

RCT Club opened the 10th round of the Martyr's Memorial B Division League 2081 with a 3-2 victory over Chyasal Youth Club on Tuesday.

Ajit Gurung gave RCT an early lead in the 11th minute, which was doubled by Abhishek Bholan in the 42nd minute. Chyasal pulled one back just before halftime through skipper Ashwin Ghorasainee. However, Sanjay Limbu restored RCT’s two-goal cushion in the second half, making it 3-1. Ashish Tharu scored in the 84th minute for Chyasal, but it wasn't enough to prevent defeat.

In the second match of the day, Shree Tusal Youth Club earned a crucial 2-1 win over Nayabasti Youth Club, climbing out of the relegation zone in the process. Dipesh Limbu opened the scoring for Tusal in the 21st minute, but Shree Krishna Tamang leveled for Nayabasti from the penalty spot in the 52nd. Binod Nembang struck the winner five minutes from time, sealing all three points for Tusal.
