Diwakar Gurung appointed team manager of U-20 national team

Diwakar Ghale Gurung has been appointed as the team manager of the U-20 national team on Friday.

Gurung, also the President of Mahabir Club, will take charge of the team in the upcoming SAFF U-20 Championship to be held in India from July 25 to August 3. He will also overlook the team in the AFC U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers to be held from September 10 to 18 in Bahrain.

The national U-20 is currently in closed camp for the tournaments.

Nepal will play its first match of the SAFF U-20 Championship against Maldives on July 25. Their second match against Sri Lanka on July 27 followed by India on the 31st. Nepal's final group match will be against Bangladesh on August 2.

The national U-20 side have been drawn alongside Qatar, Bahrain, Bangladesh and Bhutan in the AFC U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers.

Nepal will play its first match against Bhutan on September 10 and second match against Qatar on September 12. The third match will be against Bahrain on September 14 and fourth against Bangladesh on September 18.

General Secretary Kiran Rai to lead Nepal in SAFF Congress

ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai is flying to Bangladesh on Thursday afternoon to take part in SAFF Congress to be held in Dhaka from July 2nd.

ANFA Ex CO member Bikash Narayan Shrestha and New Road Team president Sundar Narsingh Joshi will accompany Rai in the Congress. The trio will fly to Dhaka at 12 pm today.

General Secretary Rai will officially table ANFA's proposal to hold SAFF Women's Championship in Kathmandu during the Congress. Issues related to football development among SAFF members will also be discussed during the Congress.

ANFA President meets Qatari ambassador, discuss ways to strengthen footballing relationship

ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang and General Secretary Kiran Rai met with Qatar ambassador to Nepal Yousuf bin Mohammed Al-Hail at Qatar Embassy in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Ambassador Al-Hail congratulated Nembang on his election to the helm of ANFA.

President Nembang, General Secretary Rai, Executive Committee member Sarila Shrestha Maleku discussed on the ways to strengthen the cordial relationship with the ambassador during the occasion.

The two sides also agreed to develop football in Nepal through joint collaboration and cooperation.

Three Star Club General Secretary Sanjeeb Silpakar was also present in the occasion.

Former PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal extends congratulation to Ex Co

Former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has extended his congratulations for the Executive Committee of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).

Dahal met with ANFA Ex Co members at his residence in Khumaltar on Wednesday morning.

Speaking briefly to Ex Co members, Dahal said he would be happy to play a constructive role for the development of football. "I wish everyone elected the very best for your tenure and assure you my full support. I will also do everything in my capacity for the development of the game," Dahal said.

The 21st ANFA General Congress had elected the Executive Committee on June 20.
