Nepal lose to UAE in Saudi Arabia

UAE defeated Nepal 4-0 in the home match of the second round of World Cup Qualifiers match in Saudi Arabia on Thursday.

Nepal conceded twice in each halves as they were undone in the match played at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd Stadium.

Harib Abdalla Almusharrkh opened the scoring in the 12th minute of the match before adding another one two minutes later.

Nepal swung into action after Sanish Shrestha and Chhiring Lama were substituted in and saw the efforts strike the bar twice. Sanjeeb Bista headed Sanish's cross into the bar before Bishal Basnet's goal-bound shot also hit UAE's player and came off the bar.

Ali Saleh Amro scored the third goal in the 53rd minute before Hazim Abbaas scored the fourth in the 75th.

Basant Jimba debuted for the national side in the defeat. Nepal will now play against Yemen in the same venue on June 11.

President of Makwanpur District Referree Association Shrestha passes away

Akil Lal Shrestha, President of Makwanpur District Referree Association passed away on Wednesday night. He was 40.

Shrestha had complained of chest pain at around 11 pm at his home and was rushed to a hospital. His famiy sources said the hospital declared him dead after arrival.

Shrestha was also a ANFA Category 2 Referee. He is survived by his wife and his son.

Tamang appointed as head coach of national women's team, Thapa assistant coach

ANFA has appointed Rajendra Tamang as the head coach of national women's team. Bhagwati Thapa will work as Assistant Coach of the national team while Binod Maharjan has been appointed as Goalkeeping Coach.

Bindra Dewan will continue as Team Manager while Dr Jyoti Rai and Nabina Shrestha Baidhya will work as Team Doctor and Team Physio respectively.

ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai handed over appointment letters to the appointed officials at ANFA Complex in Satdobato on Monday.

Nepal to host SAFF Women's Championship 2024 in October

Nepal has been confirmed as the host nation for the SAFF Women's Championship 2024 to be played from October 17-30.

The SAFF Competition Committee meeting on Monday approved Nepal as the host for the SAFF Women's Championship 2024.

All seven member associations of SAFF will be taking part in the tournament. All seven member associations of SAFF will be taking part in the tournament. All Nepal Football Association had expressed its desire to host the regional tournament in Nepal.

Nepal had also hosted the previous edition of SAFF Women's Championship in 2022 where Nepal lost 3-1 to Bangladesh in the finals.
