Head Coach, Johan Kalin announced a 23-member squad for the friendly

Nepal Men’s National Team Head Coach, Johan Kalin on Friday announced a 23-member squad for the upcoming friendly with Johor Darul Ta’ Zim FC, Malaysian Super League Champion, on August 26, 2019.

The match will serve as the final preparation for the match against Kuwait on September 5 and against Chinese Taipei on September 10 in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Preliminary Competition /AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Qualifiers. The match will be played at Pasar Gudang Stadium in Johar City, Malaysia,

Goalkeepers: Bikesh Kuthu, Alan Neupane, Bishal Shrestha

Defenders: Saroj Dahal, Ajit Bhandari, Dinesh Rajbanshi, Ananta Tamang, Devendra Tamang, Rajeen Dhimal, Suman Aryal

Nepal to play friendly with Malaysian League Champion

Nepal national football team will face Johor Darul Ta’ Zim FC on August 26, 2019 as part of their final preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Preliminary Competition /AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Qualifiers.

Johan Kalin’s men will face the Malaysian Super League Champion at the Pasar Gudang Stadium in Johar City, Malaysia, just 10 days before they begin their 2022 FIFA World Cup Preliminary Competition /AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Qualifiers campaign.

Nepal are in Group B of the Preliminary Qualifiers Round 2 along with Australia, Jordan, Chinese Taipei and Kuwait.

Nepal will play Kuwait on September 5 at Jaber Al-Hamad International Stadium, Kuwait.

“It’s good to get a game as a friendly,” said Nepal head coach Johan Kalin.

“We are glad that Jarul Ta’ Zim FC is ready to play us. Games are of course important for us as the preparation and we look forward to play Darul Ta’ Zim FC,” he added.

Regarding the match with Kuwait, he said, “Kuwait has done some impressive results lately and played many of the games,”

“ Our players have been working very hard to prepare for this game. We look stronger and stronger as a team. Now we need to play games to know where we stand.”

In the last two fixtures, Nepal had once drawn Kuwait 0-0 and lost 1-0 with Kuwait in March.

Nepal Women's Team to compete in Nadezhda Cup

As part of the preparations for the South Asian Games to be held in Nepal this December, the Nepal National Women's Team will be competing in the Nadezhda Cup 2019 to held in Kyrgyzstan from Sept. 8-12. A total of four teams-Nepal, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan - shall compete in the tournament. 

The tournament will be staged in the city Karakol, Issyk-Kul region.

The organizers said that the tournament matches will be held according to the Laws of the Game of Football (edition 2019-2020), which is approved by the IFAB.

If no winner is determined at the end of normal playing time during the Final Stage, Kicks from the Penalty Mark shall be taken in accordance with the Laws of the Games and the manual.

Chet Narayan downsize squad to 30

Head coach Chet Narayan Shrestha trimmed his preliminary squad from 46 to 30 after Monday’s selection match played among with the team.

The team also had played a friendly match with Nepal U16 team last Friday.

Coach Shrestha said that the omitted players are promising but still needs to improve themselves.

“Few players (12 players) in the squad has A Division experience and I believe that the reduced players can improve by playing domestic competitions and leagues.

Nepal have been placed in Group A of the SAFF U18 Championship alongside Bhutan, Maldives and Pakistan.

“My team have clear objective, to reach final and win it. We are in fair group and for us the important thing is Nepal is hosting the championship.”

“We may not be the favorite team but we are ready,” said Shrestha to ANFA Media.

APF Stadium, Kathmandu is hosting the championship from 20 to 29 September 2019.

Shrestha will announce his final 23-member squad in the first week of September.
