ANFA marks International Women's Day with AFC Women's Football Day program

All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) marked International Women's Day with a special AFC Women's Football Day programme at ANFA Complex in Satdobato on Tuesday.

ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa chaired the programme. General Secretary Indraman Tuladhar coordinated the programme while Women's committee Coordinator Pema Dolma Lama gave a welcome speech.

Students from Manaslu World College performed a cultural dance in the programme. A grassroot camp including students from Chahari Sikshya Sadan was also organized.

ANFA President Sherpa also awarded former Nepali International Manmaya Limbu was awarded in the programme for her contribution to Nepali football.

ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa also addressed the programme and wished everyone on the occasion of International Women's Day. He added football could be a medium for the empowerment of women. "The recently concluded Deputy Mayor Cup National Women League qualifier tournament and the overwhelming participation reflects the popularity towards the sport. We plan to cash in that and make women's football more sustainable and accessible for all", said Sherpa.

National U-18 women's team member, currently in closed camp, also took part in the programme. Around 200 participants including ANFA Ex Co members, ANFA staffs, former footballers were present in the event.

RCT register first win, Church Boys make it two in a row

Church Boys United defeated Khumaltar Youth Club 2-0 for their second consecutive win while Ranipokhari Corner Team registered their first win with a similar scoreline in the Martyr's Memorial 'B' Division League 2078 on Sunday.

In the first match of the day, a brace from Ashish Chapagain, his fifth goal in two matches, helped Church Boys to a comfortable victory over Khumaltar. Chapagain scored the first in the 54th minute and doubled it in the 74th.

The second match between Shree Kumari Club and Samajik Youth Club ended in a 3-3 draw.

Shree Kumari had taken the lead through Raj Bhusal in the 29th but Samajik made it 3-1 with goals from Basanta Bahadur Rana in 37th, Suresh Khatri in 44th and Krishna Bhandari in 51st. Shree Kumari pulled on back through Bipin Tumsing Magar in the 59th and Lakshuman Man Tharu equalized for them in the 73rd.

A first minute goal had given RCT the lead over Madhyapur which was doubled by Sagar Bantha Tharu in the 87th.

The matches also completed the round two of the league. The third round matches will begin from Tuesday after a day's break.

APF vs Army to kick-off National Women's League

The first round fixtures of National Women's League 2078 have been released on Sunday.

The top-tier women's tournament will begin from March 24 with the first round of matches being played in Bharatpur, Chitwan.

The second round of matches will be played in Biratnagar.

ANFA has signed MoUs with Bharatpur Metropolitan City and Biratnagar Metropolitan City regarding the conduction of league in the two cities.

Shree Bhagwati defeat Boys Union for second consecutive win

Shree Bhagawati Club defeated Boys Union Club 2-1 to register their second consecutive win of the Martyr's Memorial 'B' Division League 2022 on Saturday.

The other two games between Bansbari Club vs Tushal Youth Club and Birgunj United vs Nayabasti Youth Club ended in draws.

Shree Bhagawati came from 1-0 down to defeat Boys Union at ANFA Complex. Boys Union had taken the lead in the sixth minute through Binod Rai but the game was levelled in the 27th minute when Bishnu Bahadur Sunar inadvertently headed the ball into his own net. Amit Lama scored five minutes from time to give Shree Bhagawati the win.

The second match between Bansbari and Tushal ended goalless while Birgunj played a 2-2 draw against Nayabasti.

Birgunj had taken the lead through Kripakant Mahato Tharu in the 24th minute but Suman Yongya levelled in the 44th minute. Jiban Magar gave Nayabasti the lead in the 64th minute but Bibek Chaudhary scored an equalizer to earn the first points for Birgunj in the 81st.

Church Boys United will play Khumaltar Youth Club in the first match at 9:30 am on Sunday while Shree Kumari Club will take on Samajik Youth Club at 12:45 pm. The third match will be played between Ranipokhari Corner Team and Madhyapur Youth Association at 4 pm.
