Deal with NPO to Strengthen Grassroots

The All Nepal Football Association and former national team midfielder and President of NPO Nepal Youth Soccer Project Basanta Gauchan signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 14 December 2019 to strengthen grassroots football in Nepal. 

As per the agreement, ANFA will prepare a U-12 team and NPO Nepal Youth Soccer Project will ensure the team’s participation in the tournament in coordination with Japan’s Fun Roots Academy. Gauchan is coach in the Academy.

Lauding Gauchan’s efforts and dedication towards football despite living abroad, ANFA President Sherpa thanked the NPO Nepal Youth Soccer Project for helping them in developing the sport.

“We are also running various activities for the development of youth football and we will prepare a team of players selected from various provinces to participate in the tournament in Japan,” said Sherpa.

According to Gauchan, teams from Spain, France, Australia, Germany and Malaysia along with youth sides of J-League clubs will take part in the tournament to be held in Tokyo in March next year.

Sherpa Holds Talks with US Soccer Officials for Collaboration

ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa visited US Soccer Federation and held a meeting with the delegations of the Federation, which was chaired by Brain Remedi, Chief Administrative Officer of the US Soccer Federation. 

The meeting held on 21 October 2019 took four key decisions. The decisions are:

1) The US Soccer Federation to take very important steps for the development of the Women’s Football in Nepal.

2) The US Soccer Federation will bring Scouting Workshop in Nepal to bridge the gap in recruitments of talented senior and youth players.

3) The US Soccer Federation is very positive to conduct coaching courses for the Nepalese coaches residing in the USA.

4) The US Soccer Federation is highly interested to promote the FIFA World Cup 2026 from the Mount Everest.

ANFA, England FA Sign MoU to Play Friendly

The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and England Football Association (FA) on 22 January 2020 signed an agreement for a friendly football match.

The agreement was inked on the occasion of 204th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between Nepal and United Kingdom. The agreement was signed by chairman of ANFA Karma Tshering Sherpa and Loren Jones of England Football Association in Kathmandu.

The first friendly match will be held in England while the second will be organized in Nepal. However, the match has been postponed to a later date due to the COVID-19.

The first match was scheduled to be played on May 25 at the Aldershot Football Club Stadium in England.

ANFA, Qatar FA sign Memorandum of Collaboration

The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and the Qatar Football Association (QFA) signed a five year cooperation agreement in October 2018. The agreement will help the two countries develop the sports and take bilateral relations to a new level. 

The deal was signed by Karma Tsering Sherpa, President of All Nepal Football Association, and Hamad Bin Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al-Tani, President of the Qatar Football Association at the QFA head office Doha, Qatar.

Under the agreement, the parties will give effect to their collaboration and cooperation through management and officials, technical experts, coaches, referees and players. 

The both Football Associations will also establish an exchange program whereby QFA personnel are provided access to the expertise, courses and facilities of the ANFA and where by ANFA personnel are provided access to expertise and facilities off the QFA. 

The exchanges will include: 1) General Management 2) Management 3) Marketing 4) Promotional Activity 5) Sports Facilities 6) Study and Research 7) Technical and conditioning coaching 8) Referees 9) Football management and technical direction 10) Game development and talented player development 11) Women’s Football 12) Youth Football 13) Futsal 14) Sports Science, referring to football 15) Sports Medicine, referring to football 16) Research on football matters 17) Rules and Regulations The agreement also strengthens the commitment to the National Team Competitions. 

The FA’s will corporate each other to play international friendlies between their respective national teams. “We are proud to work with Qatar Football Association and I am very sure this will be a fruitful partnership,” ANFA President said after signing the agreement. President Karma Tsering Sherpa and League Committee Coordinator Bigyan Raj Sharma had left for Qatar on 22 October.
