The All Nepal Football Association today bade farewell to Nepal National Women's Team that is travelling to India to particpate in the four-nation tournament slated from February 7-17 in Bhuwaneshwor.
ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa and Korean Football Association (KFA) President Chung Mong-gyu wished luck to the team that will first hold a week training camp in Jhapa before leaving for India.
During the function, ANFA also received 897 pairs of football shoes from the KFA.
The team is scheduled to leave Jhapa on January 30 (Wednesday).
"First I would like to congratulate Nepal Women's team for their outstanding performance in the Olympics Qualifiers 2020," said KFA President Chung Mong-gyu.
"I am confident that the team will do the best in second round and earn berth in the finals. We hope Nepal will play Korean in the finals."
Likewise, ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa expressed his gratitude to KFA President for presenting ANFA with the football equipments.
"We are delighted to welcome Mr. Chung in Nepal for the second time.I also thank KFA for the gift."
"Women's team is doing very well in the international arena and we are hopeful the team will make the nation feel proud in the coming days as well."
Head coach Hari Khadka finalized 23-member squad on Friday for the tournament in India.
Nepal has been pitted against Bangladesh, Bhutan and Pakistan in Group ‘A’ of the SAFF Women’s Championship.
January 25, 2019 - Nepal Women’s Football team head coach Hari Khadka has announced his 23-women squad, who will accompany the Nepal Women’s Football team to India, for the four-nation tournament.
India invited Nepal to compete in the tournament that is scheduled to take place in Bhubaneswar from 7th to 17th February, 2019.
The tournament features four teams including hosts, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
The tournament in India is regarded as part of the preparation for upcoming SAFF Women’s Championship.
Nepal is hosting the championship in Biratnagar from March 12 to March 22.
Nepal has been pitted against Bangladesh, Bhutan and Pakistan in Group ‘A’ of the SAFF Women’s Championship.
“The tournament in India will help the players find exposure before the major championship,” said head coach Khadka.
Among the listed 23-squad traveling to India, coach Khadka will then reduce the players to 20 as the final squad for the SAFF.
The Squads:
Goalkeepers: Anjana Rana Magar, Usha Nath, Anjila Tumbapo Subba.
Defenders: Hira Kumari Bhujel, Gita Rana, Punam Jargha Magar, Amrita Jaishi, Kabita Dhimal, Sunita Chaudhary, Puja Rana, Man Maya Limbu.
Midfielders: Bimala Chaudhary, Anita Basnet, Dipa Rai, Manjali Kumari Yonjan, Sharmila Thapa, Saru Limbu, Renuka Nagarkote, Anita KC.
Forwards: Anu Lama, Rekha Poudel, Niru Thapa (C), Sabitra Bhandari.
January 22, 2019 - The Nepal National Women’s Football Team will compete in a four-nation tournament in Bhubaneswar, India from 7th to 17th of February, 2019, as part of the preparations for the upcoming SAFF Women’s Championship. The tournament features four teams including hosts India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Nepal is hosting the SAFF Women’s Championship from March 12th in Biratnagar. Signature Manang Marshyangdi Club wins Pulsar Martyrs' Memorial A Divison League for a record 8th time. Signature MMC topped the table with 36 points suffering just one loss in the final game against Friends Club. CMG Sankata secured the second position with 28 points and Ruslan Three Star Club on the third position with 26 points.ANFA also awarded the following players were awarded for their best performance in the respective fields. Along with the league winner ANFA also awarded Heman Gurung (MMC) as the best midfielder, Bharat Khawas (TAC) as best forward, Bikash Khawas (TAC) as emerging youth talent, Ranjit Dhimal (TSC) as the best defense.
