Manang defeat Army to end losing streak; Sherpa, Church Boys register wins

Manang Marsyangdi Club ended their six-match losing streak by defeating Tribhuvan Army Football Club 1-0 with a last gasp goal from Koffi Timothee Koudo in the Martyr's Memorial A Division League 2023 on Wednesday.

Koudo scored in the added minutes of the game in the pouring rain at Dasharath Stadium to give Manang the win.

In the first match of the day, Himalayan Sherpa Club defeated Royal Blue Satdobato Youth Club 1-0 at Chyasal Stadium. Khamir Gilsan Kandangwa scored the only goal in the 66th minute of the game. The win saw Sherpa move to the ninth place in the table.

In the second match of the day, Church Boys United came from behind to defeat Friends Club at Dasharath Stadium. Friends had taken the lead through Ben Nash Quansah's header in the 14th minute.

Church Boys levelled the game through Anjan Bista's 87th minute penalty before substitute Anish Chapagain completed the victory in the added time of the game.

The win saw Church Boys move up to second in the points table, level on points with leaders Jawalakhel Youth Club but second only due to head-to-head difference.

Police stun league leaders Jawalakhel, Three Star share points with Khumaltar

Bottom-placed Nepal Police Club stunned league leaders Jawalakhel Youth Club 2-1 to climb out of the bottom zone for the first time in the Martyr's Memorial A Division League 2023 on Tuesday.

In the first game of the second round leg of the league at ANFA Complex, Moses Gyabaah Twum and Ahmad Hijazi scored for the departmental side. Twum scored the team's first in the 35th minute before Hijazi doubled it in the 88th. Jawalakhel pulled one back in the 89th through Bipin Kandel but Police held on for a deserving victory.

In the other match of the day, Three Star Club shared points with FC Khumaltar after playing out a 2-2 draw. The draw dragged FC Khumaltar to the bottom of the table while Three Star missed chance to climb at the top.

In the match at Chyasal Stadium, Laken Limbu gave Three Star the lead in just the fourth minute of the game before Khumaltar levelled through Messouke Oloumou in the added minutes of the first half.

Stephane Binong put Khumaltar ahead in the 51st minute before Aditya Shakya levelled from the penalty spot in the 68th minute.

Machhindra share points with Satdobato as first leg ends

The first leg of the Martyr's Memorial A Division League 2023 has concluded with Machhindra Football Club playing a goalless draw against Royal Blue Satdobato Youth Club at Dasharath Stadium.

In the only match of the day, the two sides wasted opportunities to share the points.

The draw means Machhindra finish the first round of the league with 18 points in seventh place with Satdobato are third with 22.

Manang slump continues as rain halts three matches

Jawalakhel Youth Club will stay in the top of the table for the first half of the Martyr's Memorial A Division League after playing out a 1-1 draw against Sankata Club in rain-affected match on Sunday.

The match, originally scheduled for Saturday at Chyasal Stadium was halted in the fifth minute of the second half due to heavy rainfall. Jawalakhel Club was leading the match through Fode Fofana's 34th minute strike when it had to be rescheduled for Sunday.

The remaining minutes of the match was played at ANFA Complex in Satdobato and Sankata levelled the match through Nishan Khadka in the 73rd minute.

Another match between Himalayan Sherpa Club and Tribhuvan Army Football Club, on Saturday, was also affected by the rain at Dasharath Stadium. Army was leading 1-0 through Nawayug Shrestha's first minute strike when rain came down heavily in the 27th minute of the second half. The remaining minutes were played at Dasharath Stadium on Sunday and Sherpa shared points through Bishwash Shrestha's goal in the 55th minute.

Manang Marsyangdi Club suffered their sixth loss after a 3-0 defeat to Church Boys United. The match too was affected by rain and rescheduled for Sunday from Saturday.

Ananta Tamang headed in Church Boys first goal in the 41st minute in the rescheduled match at ANFA Complex. Mausham Subba doubled the lead in the 55th and Saimon Limbu added a third in the added minute of the game.
