Nepal Police, ANFA sign MOU to run football academy

All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and Nepal Police on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to run a football academy at Nepal Police School in Sanga.

ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa and Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Police Niraj Bahadur Shahi signed the MOU at Nepal Police Headquarters in Naxal. Inspector General (IG) Shailesh Thapa Kshetri was also present in the signing ceremony with other senior police officials.

As per the agreement, a total of 21 students, including seven students from Nepal Police School, seven selected from across the country with scholarship from ANFA and seven who wish to get enrolled, will be admitted in the academy. ANFA will lend technical support to the academy for four years.

ANFA will also provide players for two years and also provide sporting equipment and coordinate with Nepal Police School for further years.

Speaking at the programme, ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa hoped the academy would bring players from different background to one place which would contribute to the development of the game. He added ANFA was always ready to implement the understanding with police.

Also speaking at the program, IG Kshetri stressed on the need to seriously implement the deal. He said Nepal Police would do everything in their capacity to implement the deal from their side and hoped the academy would produce some world class players.

Kshetri also thanked ANFA for signing such MOU and assured to materialize it.

ANFA Vice Presidents Shixit Parajuli, Upendra Man Singh, National Sports Council board member Hari Khadka, League Committee Chairperson Bigyan Raj Sharma and other ANFA officials and Nepal Police personnel were present in the programme.

National Women's League to be held from Jan 20

All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) is all set to hold National Women's League from January 20.

Seven teams―Chaudandigadhi Municipality, Tribhuvan Army Football Club, Nepal Armed Police Force, Biratnagar Metropolitan City, Waling Municipality, Chandrapur Municipality and Nepal Police Club―will take part in the month-long league.

The opening and closing ceremony will be held at Dasharath Stadium while the other matches will be held in ANFA Complex.

The winner of the league will take a cash prize of Rs 1.5 million while the first runner-up, second runner-up and third runner-up will win Rs 800,000, Rs 500,000 and Rs 300,000 respectively.

Each team will have 30 members including 23 players and seven officials. They can also sign and play up to four foreign players for the tournament.

The best player of the league will be awarded with a scooter while the best striker, midfielder, defender, goalkeeper and coach will receive Rs 50,000 each. The fair play team will receive an additional Rs 150,000.

The seven teams will be provided Rs 100,000 as preparation money and an additional Rs 50,000 as Covid Relief Fund.

ANFA will bear the lodging and fooding of the players and officials and will also provide isolation facilities if any players or officials develop Covid-19 symptoms during the tournament.

Statute amendment discussed with ANFA's Emergency Committee

The Statute Amendment Committee on Monday held a discussion on statute amendment with the All Nepal Football Association's (ANFA) emergency committee. 
The committee chairperson and ANFA Spokesperson Kiran Rai chaired the meeting. 
ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa, Senior Vice President Pankaj Bikram Nembang, Vice Presidents Krishna Bahadur Thapa, Bir Bahadur Khadka, Upendra Man Singh, General Secretary Indraman Tuladhar, Treasurer Rabindra Joshi were present in the meeting. 
The meeting discussed the suggestions received during the discussions held in provinces and with 'A', 'B' and 'C' division clubs.

Statute amendment discussion for Bagmati province held

All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Monday held a discussion on statute amendment with football representatives from 11 District Football Association of Bagmati province at ANFA Complex.

The discussion was chaired by Statute Draft Committee coordinator and ANFA Spokesperson Kiran Rai. Participants gave their suggestions for the amendment.

Statute Draft Committee deputy coordinator and executive committee member Madhu Sudan Upadhyay and Executive Committee member Purna Man Chitrakar were also present in the discussion.

ANFA has already held such discussion in other provinces and with 'A', 'B' and 'C' division clubs.
